Not sure what the Southern Routes are. But don't go through Denver and Oklahoma, that would seem out of the way anyway. Try to go thru the actual southern states, like Lousiana, Texas, Arizona. Following I 10 might be a good idea, but it still doesn't get you out of the snow. West Texas and Southern N Mex gets snow during this time of year.
