We're fast (and careful) on the tandem, but the darn thing is so stable that 45+ doesn't feel fast at all. Brakes are fine, but I wouldn't mind having a front disk. On my single I've seldom gone much over 40 mph, but my new road bike has disk brakes so I can see myself going faster in the future
