^ I think I mentioned manipulating that piece (5, 6) in another Avid thread.
You gotta pull it out & use some pliers to re-tighten it (give a little squeeze) - mine got flimsy after replacing the pads in my BB7s several times, so it didn't 'click' as firmly as when new. That's how I lost a pad on trail.
