Bikes: '96 Litespeed Catalyst, '05 Litespeed Firenze, '06 Litespeed Tuscany, '20 Surly Midnight Special, All are 3x10. It is hilly around here!

+1 on the LBS's bad advice. Unless you ride on the beach every day, a decent bottom bracket should last for tens of thousands of miles and a cartridge bearing headset for decades.
