based on exage, "made in Taiwan", and also the decals. and those decals are from 1986+ bikes!

edit: and the paint scheme.. always thought those were 1988+
Thanks for the clarification. I completely missed most of the paragraph that you cited in my read. It doesn't look like proof reading is going to be a second career for me.
