The closest framebuilder I know to you in Lansing is Matt Assenmacher in Swartz Creek, MI just west of Flint. He does painting as well. Matt was one of the original Americans to apprentice in England at Bob Jackson in Leeds in the early 70's. He runs his framebuilding operation out of his retail bicycle store. Scott Quiring is in Freesoil, MI north of Ludington and near Lake Michigan. I'm in Niles, MI just north of South Bend, IN about 120 miles southwest of Lansing. I don't have much time for frame repair and painting anymore as 90% of my time is involved in teaching framebuilding classes. Like Matt, I apprenticed in England in Shipley about 15 miles from Bob Jackson but because of the wandering city roads in-between, it was the equivalent 45 minutes of driving.
