I'll bet there will be improvements such as quieter, smoothing rear shifting, and a sturdier front deraileur cage to improve front shifting. Also, 1/4 weight savings. Just these improvements would be substantial, IMHO.

You can see they did away with the cut off teeth in the rear cassette.
