Update: The 1987 chain ring was not readily available every place I searched, so I watched ebay for since may. Finally six months later, a seller posted an original never used Biopace
50 tooth 110 bcd chain ring.

I snapped the new old stock Alloy 50 tooth biopace chain ring immediately, a bit expensive, but it was the first one I had seen posted for sale. Lots of 130 Bcd, but never an Alloy 50x110 Bcd.

I have done many short rides in the neighborhood, and then rode it 30+ miles on a windy day mid November and spent the next day cleaning to have it sparkle again. This is an amazing bicycle with a spirited ride and I certainly enjoy time in the pedals with this bicycle.

The new chain and chain ring make this bicycle shine in me heart on a cloudy day. I have reduced the 1.75 tires to 1.25 and its steel frame glides on pavement...

I did not make the STP last July, but will attempt it again next summer as the Takara is also a smooth ride with its 27 inch wheels. But I am tempted to use the Novara X-R, except it is maybe a bit of a trophy I need to keep pristine, for a morning or afternoon ride...
