What the heck is there to get "dialed in" about a computer? I'm confused. It's just a box of sand with a little bit of gold or the odd trace element thrown in.
Getting the computer usable are things like getting email set up, and such, getting it dialed in are things like removing the-so-crippled-they-might-as-well-not-bother "lite" versions of apps off that you don't use anyway and getting the stuff you want to use, installed. Yes the Mac comes with a nice set of apps already installed, but there are certain ones I want to use, because I like them, most of them are multi-platform and free (yay).
