It should be adjusted so there is crisp shifting up /down without slack.
Look I know you just built a Scattante so you're 100% fully certified but you have to understand there are a lot of people on here who have spent time as shop mechanics or built bikes and adjusted hundreds of front derailleurs.

Also it seems like you don't understand the trim function that front shifters have. If the OP does not understand the trim function the issue could be due to the position of the shifter and adjusting his front derailleur will not solve the problem.
