Comfortable road bars? Wrist pain in the Hoods

I'm starting to get wrist pain while riding in the hoods. I can't seem to find a comfortable position. The most natural position feels like I should be supporting my upper body with the middle of my wrist right on the bar (right over the median nerve). I try to adjust my grip so that the hypothenar emenince (fleshy bump on the pinky side) or the thenar emenince/webspace (bump on the thumb side), but the rest of my hand feels unsupported in these positions and I have to concentrate to keep them in that position.

I rarely ride out of the hoods, the other positions seem even less comfortable.

Any ideas for more comfortable road bars? I need something compatible with STI levers.
