OP, you are insane to be riding on Lyons Mill Road. I grew up in Sykesville and drove that road to school every day for years. People think it is a freeway.

Instead, if you are starting from Lyons Gate head north to Ashforth and then east on Coyle either to Common Brook or Owings Run. Then Lakeside Blvd over to Painters Mill.

or, if you can get up to Meadow Road -- I can't see whether there's a connecting path - take that east all the way to the metro.

Stay off of Lyons Mill at all costs, even for a short distance.
