I prefer to have a bar a bit of reach, a horizontal section toward the ramps with room to move my hands in various positions, so I'm not confined to the hoods only. As mentioned above Nitto Noodles are good for that and so are some other bars. Bars that limit hand position for me are short reach compact bars. However I agree with other statements made here that the handlebar is not always the problem or always a solution; hoods included, although I do have my favorite. A seated position that allows centralized support by the legs and increased leg effort will remove weight from the wrists, pedal hard enough and your hands will be pulling back rather than carrying weight. It really is as simple as pedaling harder.
