OK I have to chuckle a bit... I just looked at the PDF, and what is this a 30 MPH street... my gosh that bike lane is more protected than the typical sidewalk... It appears to be a rather low use street with single automotive lanes and a very wide buffered bike lane... a bike lane that might best be reserved for the high speed multi-laned arterial roads we have around here.

In fact take a look at this BL on this local 65MPH arterial road here.



Notice that while there is a buffer, there are no "barriers" and yes, this IS a 65MPH road. Such a BL as the one in use in Chicago would be nice here on this road.

I actually have a hard time believing such a BL is on that road in Chicago.
