I have to agree, you can't demand more respect for cyclists when you fragrantly ride dangerously, knock over pedestrians, tap and hold onto cars, run red lights through busy intersections causing cars to skid to a halt, etc. etc.

Either be an outlaw, or obey the social contract. You can't have it both ways. It annoys me when a cyclist who rides the wrong way on a one way street, runs red lights, etc. etc. then demands that all people recognize his legal status as a vehicle when he himself does not obey the laws of a vehicle.

I break the same minor laws as everyone else, like not stopping at stop signs when no one is around, but I also don't get self-righteous about my supposed legal rights.

If you want the laws to apply to you, you have to obey them as well.
