Today I built the rear wheel for the Bianchi I'm building. But when I started on the front wheel a conundrum confronted me.
The hubs are Campy Record. The question is whether the engraved "Campagnolo Record" should be readable from the front or from the back. On the rear hub it is readable from the back and of course there is no option. But the existing wear grooves in the flanges of the front hub, assuming the trailing spokes were on the inside surfaces, show that it had previously been built with the name readable from the front. The wheels on my Raleigh with "Suntour Superbe" hubs were built by someone I trust, and they are readable from the back just like the rear hub. I can build it either way. I suspect it would be better to seat the new spokes in the existing grooves, but I really really really don't want to be arrested by the Style Police. Is there a way one is "supposed" to do it?
I've never had to deal with this problem before! Haaalp!
