Living in a city without much of a bicycle culture is quite a challenge. There are only a few bicycle shops locally, but don't carry anything a commuter needs. I will walk in to even the best shops in town: No suitable commuting tires ("I didn't know Continental made bike tires"); No panniers or bags; No good quality lighting, except for one shop that sells NiteRider and has some PB Superflashes; Very few U-Locks; etc. They also don't sell Schrader tubes. So, I buy Bell pre-slimed tubes at Kmart, and do the rest of my shopping online (except I've boughts lights at the one shop that carries NiteRider). Bike shops have grand openings here all the time, and then a couple of years later are gone. I feel bad for them, but they never sell anything I need.
