I bought a nice Swinnerton road bike at an auction ($205) on Saturday and even though I have never heard of Swinnerton, I bought the bike anyway because the frame looked really nice (though neglected) and it had C-Record groupset on it.
Today as I was striping the bike for cleaning, I noticed a small rust hole on the non-drive side chainstay near the BB. From the picture, is it repairable? Can I spot weld over it and grind it down smooth? Also there is a dent on the top tube, about 1 1/2 inches long near the middle of the tube (length wise).
Also, does anyone know where I can get some info on Swinnerton bikes? The frame is made with Columbus Max tubing, has a braze-on front derailleur, Campagnolo drop outs, complete (except wheels) C-Record groupset with Delta brakes, downtube 7 speed indexed shifters.
There is an oval sticker on the rear just below the seat that says "Prodotti Speciali" with Campagnolo in the middle. Is this a significant sticker, or just marketing?
Many Thanks for the info,
Ian
