Simplex seat posts with the logo are worth about $50-100 on eBay.

As Sheldon states, they are kind of "neat" and I would keep it if I were you.

Insofar as their DR;s being "crappy", that is part truth and part urban legend.
The front (Prestige) plastic DR's are subject to failure.
The rears are actually pretty good shifters, though the jockey wheels tend to break often. (Easily replaced with Suntour)
The 410, 610 and LJ derailleurs don't have as many proplems, but have become expensive.
