I am thinking more about the legs' range of movement. I rode on uber short cranks, for me (6'5"), for a year and I felt cramped and I switched . That's what I mean by comfort. Oh and I would ride with 48-18(5.4) and 48/19 (5.1)without spinning out down hills. There's just not enough knee flexion for me with shorter cranks. I'm most comfortable on 175s, but I have yet to try 180s or longer.
