Most people, who don't know a lot about bikes, don't want to search out parts, give OA baths, and fix stuff.
They want to pump up their tires and go for a ride. They also would like a shinny new looking bike.
Of course YMMV!
I think a lot of first time bike buyers would benefit from buying one of these also. I see a lot of posters come on here and say, I just bought this for $150. Is it good. And the answer is often, nope, try again. Or "Well, it'll be a good running bike after you put $250 into it. But even after you do that it'll still only be worth $150.
