As with commo_soulja, I did use small increments and turned the cutter until no further reduction in resistance was possible each time before the next tightening. But on the aluminum steerer it was just as easy and fast as the ones I've sawed. The way I look at it, it's possible to screw it up whether your sawing or using a tube cutter, so either way you should take your time, measure twice/cut once and spend the extra time with a file or deburring tool.
