Put yourself in the shoes of a shop manager. You have Trek and Specialized as your mass sellers, and you sell a few high end Kleins as well. You're not going to stock the ends of the size range. All extreme sizes would be special ordered. Now put yourself in the shoes of a guy who spent a lot of money on that once in a lifetime special bike purchase. You'd have a hard time parting with it. So you have a very small supply in the hands of people who are less likely to sell. I've been looking for an XL 1994 Specialized FS-R for years. Some bikes are like hen's teeth.
