I've got a pair of Craft Windblocker cycling shorts that look very similar to this. Except they're all one piece instead of an insert. The windblocker part is made of Gore-Tex and the rest is stretchy wool. They aren't padded for one's saddle. I wear them for temps below 25 and they work great.
