WIND!!... as in flying cows. There was a tornado that came thru the area the day before the ride. But that isn't your biggest challenge. The available stores east of Byers past the state line close around 4-5 pm and there's no place to purchase food/water if you're out past sunset (I would avoid public water taps in eastern colo unless you want the trotts). A number of riders abandoned because they didn't think they could ride thru the nite without supplies. I'm not a speedy rider so I cached water/food outbound in case I was delayed on the return and did fine. Last Chance will have much better roads then the famed texas chip seal
