Ohhhhhh New England
I know how talking about the weather in the New England is a little cliche, but check out these two commutes.
Monday: Coldest I've ever ridden in. 11 degrees at 5:30am. Dressed appropriately - wound up having to take of face mask and goggles about 3 miles into my 7 mile ride (in part because my face guard froze and I couldn't breathe well, and my goggles fogged and froze. Water bottle froze partway through, leaving a middle cylinder of water about 1" diameter. On the way home met another bike commuter who works near my home readying to ride back to his. I was a little surprised as he is only the second commuter I've come across in my two years commuting (aside from two friends who I used to commute with about a year ago).
Today: 45+ degrees at 6:00am. Nothing needed for headwear aside from my helmet, very few layers (thin winderbreaker, t-shirt, thin longsleeve - probably could have ditched the middle layer), no shoe covers - it was really nice to be able to ride in such warm weather this time of year.
You've gotta love a 34 degree swing in the same week at the same time of day ha ha.
Anyone else encountering wild weather fluctuations? How are my other New England commuters doing? - no need for those winter rigs with studded tires yet around here!
