When eBay was fairly new, and I caught the bike bug again, one of the first bikes I won, was an early 30's Colson.
Shipping was by FedEx only.
I had the bike shipped to shop I worked at, so, it would not sit in the hallway of the apt. bldg, I lived in, all day.
Shipped in a double thick cardboard box with hard foam spacers between the walls of the box, and plastic peanuts(I hate those).
But the box when delivered, was broken, twisted and crushed, and so was the Colson. I paid for insurance and FedEx paid me, but that's one bike that just got wasted for nothing.
To me, it looked like somebody backed a truck over it.
I never bought another item off ebay that shipped by FedEx.
That being said, all the CNC machine tool electronics that I ordered or sent out for repair, were shipped in/out by FedEx and I NEVER had a damage problem.
