Look at the picture in the catalog to see the difference in how the chain is routed. It will probably still ride, but it may not shift efficiently and may wear out parts faster. I'm not really sure what effect it will have because I've never tried it like that. While you have the chain off, you should pull the skewer on the rear wheel and put the quick release on the non drive side.
