Thanks for the responses guys, ended up just letting them do it, now knowing that id need at least 2 specialty tools to get it done and the price would end up being the same. Cranks were fine, they just replaced the cartridge bearing and im now back to normal.

Also, Ill be using that bikepedia reference in the future
