So you said the Paramount wasn't a mixte? It looks like one in the photo you showed. Those Schwinn Paramount Deluxe touring model must be rare, I can't recall ever seeing one, but I'll keep my eye open. Any particular model of Fuji or Gitane? What about Miyata did they do anything really nice for a mixte?
That Paramount pictured isn't a mixte and they didn't make Parmount mixtes. In fact, I don't recall Schwinn making them at all, but I could be wrong on that point.

I think the design of mixte is much stronger than conventional woman's step-through so that was a big selling point back when we had our shop more than 35 year ago. I really am not a mixte expert in todays world as my knowledge is somewhat frozen at 1975 or thereabouts. We just sold some of them in the 1970s at our shop.
Certainly a post with your question will bring out the experts who know which one is better than another.
Mixte frames look like this and I think the idea was to get a bike that men would also ride. I think most men still think a mixte design is a woman's bike.
