What you do is you carry a pair of cheapo crappy platform pedals and the appropriate size spanner. Before actually riding your bike you swap out the nice pedals for the crappy platforms, then once you reach your destination you swap the pedals over again.... dont forget to swap them before riding home tho ....you can do the same to preserve your nice expensive tyres with cheap ones too!
