Blue Loctite works well. It lubricates the threads so that the nipples turn smoothly and offers a slight amount of holding power. Future spoke tunups if needed will go smoothly.
Use a good snug fitting spoke wrench and you won't have any problems. I use Spokey wrenches, never rounded off a nipple.
I always use Al alloy nipples. I like black.
