This kind of thing pisses me off to no end. Like jimmytango, I grew up on the exact opposite side of the coin and my parents have literally never bought me or helped pay for a single thing - not because they didn't want to but because we didn't have a lot of extra money. I feel it instilled a much stronger set of values in me that most people grow up with.
Yeah, I don't mean to come off as saying that my parents are ********. We were just poor as ****. I'm used to hard work, and I have a 10 year jump start on most people my age. Maybe that explains why most of my friends are older than I am, and most people think I'm older at first.
