I use and recommend soft-setting LocTite (blue) on French and Italian fixed cups, which ARE self-loosening. The only alternative is to torque them down REALLY tightly. A clockwise thread on the fixed cup is a minor engineering faux pas, done in the name of cost containment and to work around an old British patent for left-threaded fixed cups. Motobecane finally got it right (i.e., left) in the mid-1970s, Peugeot in the late 1970s.
