This is we're I was 3 years ago and I must admit I'd be drooling over this bars back then.
Though riding fixed is a fun, efficient, and interesting way to ride, practicality calls for a freewheel and two brakes. Nobody's going to make fun of you for coasting or stopping safely. Id say its actially going the opposite way. Steel wheels, however have no place on a fixie.
You can get a 700c wheelset with tires and a cog for $100. They won't be great but they'll be better than your current setup.
