Unless you're pretty light, and lightly loaded, I wouldn't count on finishing the ride on a single set of tires. It's not a huge deal; just watch the tires, perhaps a weekly inspection, and when whatever tread disappears completely, find a good bike shop and replace the rear tire. It's only a problem when you notice you're down to the inner layer and 100 miles from the nearest bike shop (and I made it anyhow!).
