I am trying to get into cycling and need help deciding on decent bike. I want a road bike, but can't afford the $1000+ for a bike. So im looking at the trek 1000 and the 7500fx. The 1000 has the drop handle bars and the 7500fx just has the straight bars. I dont know much about bikes and what i should look for.

I went to me local bike shop and they told me for my height(5'6") that i should get a 56cm bike. I am going back on monday to test out a 1000.

Or should i wait it out for the 2006 so that the 2005 may drop in price. Only problem with that is that they only have one 1000 56cm bike left.

I need some advice for these bikes?
