True Temper tubing has a history of failure, look at the Serotta built frames for the 7-11 team
they folded like cheap lawn chairs. That is one of the main reasons that 7-11 moved on to Merckx
frames.
My understanding is that this distorts the history of those frames. From what I remember, it was a problem of giving the customer what he asked for and then getting blamed when it turned out to be a bad idea. I'm sure TT learned from that experience. Lots of builders are using TT tubing without issue.
