Might want to do yours. Cannondale actually requires the use of a star nut in some of their lightweight carbon forks. The ~320 gram Premium Plus fork on my 2009 caad9 has a thin aluminum sleeve inside the fork steerer to protect the *required* star nut from damaging the carbon fibers as the stem is tightened down.
