yeah, lower the handlebar stem, the saddle should be set by your leg extension...right now level (both at the same hight will work) Rando/ultra distance riders use it like that...more sport oriented riders (roadies) tend to have a more agressive position, with lower handlebars...some people take it to extreme.

fishymamba is right, you could star riding longer, adding 5 10 even more miles. be sure to have tubes, air pump, presta adapters, tyre levers, patch kit, food and water...survive on your own, you learn a lot.
