I've always had an acquisitive nature, and I did collect coins and rocks as a child. However - I don't think of the things I own now as "collections", given that they are used on a daily basis.

E.g., I have more chairs in my house than I can sit on, and more pairs of underwear than I can don at any given moment:

-Does that make me a chair collector? - I think not.
-An underwear collector? - I hope not!
