If the calipers are staying closed after you release the brake lever, it sounds like your fixing bolt may be too tight. Unbolt your brake and follow the directions on the
Park Tool page step by step and I think you'll be fine.
If you don't want to tackle this today, unless you're doing a lot of serious descending you'll be fine using your front brake.
