It's not worth it unless the builder has a good reputation. A while back I had a wheel built at a shop and it never stayed true for very long. Eventually I found out who are the best guys in the city. But building my own is fun and I would rather do it myself if nothing is stopping me
Care to drop some names? Just for future reference? Or if you wouldn't mind showing a newbie the ropes some time (I would reimburse you). Bike Kitchen is way too busy/hectic and my guy at the LBS said he is a terrible teacher.
