I'm posting this here and in the mechanics forum. I hope no one minds the double post.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if the fixed cup on an old mid-eighties Schwinn Traveler has reverse threading or not. I'm rebuilding one for my daughter, and I'm having trouble getting it to move. I didn't want to put too much muscle into it without knowing which direction it's supposed to go. I do have a good fixed cup remover, an old VAR that I bought from a bike shop going out of business three decades ago. Do I go left, or do I go right?
