What they were doing was machining down the bigger red ones and grinding off the heat sink fins to make it "lighter more aerodynamic" I found one on ebay for $400, the little silver one is very interesting... I spoke with Bill Stevenson cyclist racer/tandem and frame builder, took the wheels buy his shop and he had heard of the silver Arai brake but had actually never seen one...

Yes they are the spin on threaded hubs the front has thread on one side and the rear has thread on both sides (a flip flop hub)
