I don't think so in the intended context. While forums are fine, and one can learn, and many can benefit, one will not magically develop the expertise of a pro (certainly not rapidly). As you point out, there are lots of conflicting opinions presented as fact, and without some basic knowledge going in, or knowledge of poster's credentials the reader has lottle basis for separating wheat form chafe.

If you read the OP, this is someone who's had problems with multiple builds already, possibly by some decent builders. He can try to digest what's been posted, or he can see someone capable of solving the problem.

Whether it's cancer, legal advice, auto repair, or just about anything with any complexity or subtlety, it would be hard to suddenly develop the expertise of a pro based on what's posted on a forum.
