Thanks for the reply. I'm fortunate to commute on the well-tended Rte 1 to Norwood, so ice and hardpack snow are usually my worst conditions. The road is wide and can accommodate me and a snowplow, and I'm very careful to monitor my rear with a Take-a-Look eyeglass mirror.

Last winter though, most of the roads, notably the VFW Parkway had iced walls of snow along the curbside, eliminating the safety zone for at least a month, maybe two as I recall.
