I know peanut butter and honey sandwiches should be a great food for riding. I can't bring myself to eat them around riding time now. I ate one prior to riding this fall and haven't felt that sick since eating a pile of vermicelli before a ride.

The best things I've found for sitting well on my stomach:

Pre-ride: Roasted red pepper humus on a tortilla; add in cheese if need be. A pickle or two and a few fig newtons can supplement.

During ride: Fig newtons.

Post ride: I seldom feel bad about eating anything shortly after a ride. Usually, there is something pickled (beans, cucumbers, squash, etc.). After that, it's all fair game.
