I think the way Giacomo wrapped it above looks great with just that little bit of black on the flat part of the drop then white thru the hooks to the flat. While OP's original idea sounded good to me, I changed my mind after seeing that Litespeed wrap, doesn't look good IMHO.

If you don't have to have Lizard Skins (awesome tape tho!), you could also do all white stitched with black thread (check out Stella Azzurra Eleganza) or all white perforated with black showing through the perforations (I think Ravx might make that, hard to find that pattern/style).
