I know this will be a very dumb question to many, so please bear with me.

I had a LBS put in some used clipless/platform pedals. It obviously didn't come with cleats. They told me it's SPD style and the cleats usually come with the shoes.

Now I'm realizing that perhaps the LBS told me false information. I've only see cleats sold with pedals or by itself. Never with the shoes. In addition, I was told I need to figure out the specific cleats that work with my pedal. There isn't just a universal "SPD" style cleats.

Which is true? Thanks.
